E.O.K. - Greek Homosexual Community
fyi: currently not-exactly existent since they haven't had elections for goddess knows how many
years, though they kept mock-accepting applications from new members in mock-sessions where the "old" members played accepted the new, and actually
believed they were, during last spring and early summer (2003), and everyone seemed anxious to proceed to the new charter and to elections that would
legaly re-instate the society as a new non-profit union after the legal problems became known in the summer and fall.. but somehow nobody dared call a
meeting since the "big man" didn't. Then in December the x-president states that there's no member but him and the x-vice-president, which he forced
to resign a couple of days later. He's still playing "president" to outsiders that think it's still a valid commumity representing some members, but
won't even talk to the falsely-named "new" but actually non-members. He claims he's got the legal right to represent the ex-society, and maybe he
does, but I don't think he's got any right to pretend he represents non-existent members.
So if you care to communicate with what's left from the EOK, you'd better call mr Gianellos. Any other communication through any avenue named after
EOK will get to him and nobody else.. like it has been happening for a few years now - unless of cource he realy wants to share the info with someone
else.
But don't believe the above just because we say so. Don't forget you always have to double-check your sources !!! - Late December 2003,
& I'll try & update the info asap when we hear of any relevant news.
If you got some proof this is a valid NGO, please inform us & we'll move to the greek ngo's section.

Cooperation against Homophobia
Σύμπραξη κατά της ομοφυλοφοβίας
A most polite supportive group in Thessaloniki. They publish the informative Vitamin-O,
co-organize the annual Homosexual Movies Panorama, (5th Panorama: May 9-15 2003,
Thessaloniki), and conduct public discussions about homosexuallity and homophobia.
They promote acceptance and equal rights of homosexual and bisexual men and women in law
and society. They're now a non-profit association of female and male adults.

Greek A.I. - LGTB comittee
Looks like there's needs for a lot of work to earn the
local lgbt people trust and support
to build a real greek lgbt-chapter.
Presently communication seems to be at cross-purposes.. the
Whereas people are realy sick
and tired of all greek orgs misdemeanours,
distrust everyone on principle,
are scared to death
to reveal their ID's,
and mostly on the lookout on what's
in everything for their private
purposes - mostly for romantic and material gains.
And the AI people don't seem able to
understand the difference between personal data
and anonymous email addresses,
nor the
average greek lesbian need for anonymity,
nor anything that's been publickly stated on the
AI-lgbt site about lesbians some years now, for that matter.
So actually in order to be an
AI-lgbt chapter member in Greece, you got to be out first.
But if it was safe to be out in
the first place, we would not need AI-support so much now, would we?
It's just another vicious circle.
Actually there's no law against lesbians, we just have to keep hiding and keep silent
about our existence and there's no law to support us against all kinds of constitutional and
social discrimination either. This is not exactly a serious torture, we just have to play
we're somebody else all throughout our lives and everything else will be just fine.
Yes, this is a tough one, and I'm not so optimistic about the Greek AI-lgbt chapter.. or
at least about the lesbian and the bisexual parts of it.
